  1. Really enjoying binging your show for the past few months. When I started, I had no idea how long it would go, but I’m having a lot of fun watching things grow and evolve. Still have a lot of episodes to go before I catch up. Thanks for putting it out there. I started playing the TMNT game when I was 11, back in the 80s, and after that moved on to Road Hogs, After The Bomb, Rifts and then the Palladium 1st edition revised. I haven’t played in years though. Living vicariously through actual play podcasts like yours as I don’t have the time to set up a game myself yet.

I’m really enjoying the intrigue with Shep and the journey to Hell was an unexpected, refreshing shift. I’m so far just finished this episode and started the next.

I have to say though, my biggest thing is that I miss Old Gnomey… the day I turned on the podcast and he was just gone I really felt the loss. I totally understand that he was a pain to the other characters but at the same time he was a really good foil and everything about him (particularly the accent, and the repeated washing in the fountain) really brought some great comic relief.

I would love to see him come back, even just for an episode or two cameo.

I had a couple questions about game mechanics… first, when you say you are playing Palladium Fantasy 1e, does that mean the original-original version, or the revised edition? To my understanding there was an original 1e, a revised 1e, and then the Second Edition where they updated it to the SDC system like Rifts and the rest of the games.

I just ask because it sounds like some of the game mechanics you use are a little different and I was wondering if they were house rules, a different interpretation of the game mechanics than I had, or just an older system before the Revised version (I played the Revised version).

Namely, it sounds like when you roll initiative you are rolling a D6 instead of the standard D20. Also, it sounds as if when running a combat round, you are giving the players all their attacks at once–ie) a player with two attacks makes two strike rolls for two attacks with his sword, in one turn. Whereas, my understanding was that each character only gets one attack at a time. ie) roll initiative, highest person takes one attack, then the next person, and the next person. Use up attacks for doges where necessary. Then go back to the top of the initiative and the highest person takes a second attack if they have one, and then down through the same order, with each person using their second attack, and anyone who only had one attack just doesn’t get to do anything. And if you don’t have any attacks left you can’t dodge.

Maybe I am remembering Palladium wrong. It’s been years since I ran a game and I know the rules for it were always a bit different. And not telling you how you should do it–it’s your game–I’m just curious.

Anyway. Been wanting to comment for a while. Really appreciate what you do. You make my mornings and lunch time fun.

    1. Hey thanks for you comments. Unfortunately the player for Old Gnomey moved out of state, and didn’t have time to play anymore. I miss David too, he’s been playing in my group since 2012ish, but ya know life happens.
Far as the game, I heavily house ruled the game, because people weren’t getting how the game worked with SDC so I changed it up. You are correct about attacks and such, but since everyone is a combat class minus a two people, everyone can parry regardless and I told them, you won’t be able to dodge if such a situation comes up and they didn’t care. Imitative is our group house rule, we do 1d6 for each side, then go around the table in order. We’ve been doing that in all games for close to 6 or 7 years now. If you have access to Apple Podcasts, feel free to drop by and leave us a written 5 star review, so we can read it on the air for you. Take care!
